Core Curriculum
Baymonte conducts a departmentalized middle school program. Teachers are subject matter specialists, many holding advanced degrees in their area of instruction. Students attend five classes of core curriculum: Bible, English, Math, Science, Social Studies and enroll in two elective classes per semester. Every middle school student participates in a physical education class which alternates with Spanish instruction.
Chapel
Middle School students attend weekly chapels where worship is led by the student worship team. Students are selected for the worship team after an audition with the school’s music director. Chapel guest speakers may be local pastors, missionaries, teachers, administrators, local officials, musicians and others who have a message to share with our student body.
Student Council
Our student council plans a number of activities and service projects. Class field trips reinforce the school curriculum in many subject areas. For more than ten years our seventh grade students have traveled to Tecate, Mexico, to assist in the improvement and expansion of Rancho de Sus Ninos Orphanage and several churches in the Valle Redondo area.
Graduates and Alumni
Baymonte’s middle school graduates are eagerly sought by local public and private high schools. Our alumni consistently provide encouraging reports of their middle school preparation and their ongoing academic success.
Our school takes the investment in curriculum very seriously. Each year we adopt new curriculum for a different subject area. The teaching staff is actively involved in the selection of all curriculum materials. We follow the State of California Educational Framework and Content Standards for the primary content of the subject area content. Most of the textbooks we select are state approved texts. Classroom teachers integrate biblical truth and Christian values throughout the curriculum.
Textbooks
The following are the textbook publishers we use in each subject as a basis for our curriculum:
- Bible Positive Action for Christ
- Math Prentice Hall, McDougal Littell
- Science Prentice Hall
- Grammar Easy Grammar, Prentice Hall
- Writing Step Up to Writing
- Social Studies Houghton Miflin, Glencoe
- Reading Prentice Hall, selected novels
