We would like to invite all Baymonte families to prayerfully consider how our community can encourage healthier and more intentional engagement with technology. Increasingly, research is suggesting that early access to smartphones and social media can have detrimental effects on children’s social development. As a part of our effort to support families, we are encouraging K-8 families to review the materials at Wait Until 8th. This organization seeks to connect families who would like to delay giving children smartphones with like-minded families who have children in the same grade. We know that each family situation is unique and that there is not one single approach to navigating technology successfully. The Wait Until 8th model is intended only to help reduce the pressure felt by both students and parents over kids having smartphones.
