Alumni Highlight: Alyse Handley

Alumni Highlight: Alyse Handley

March 12, 2020 by Leslie Rapolla

This year at Baymonte Christian School we are highlighting alumni – past students who’ve attended Baymonte, many preschool through eighth grade! Today we are highlighting Alyse Handley. Here’s what she had to say about her time at Baymonte:

I really enjoyed the close relationships that I made at Baymonte. I really grew up with my classmates, and I cherish those relationships to this day! I also really enjoyed the classes and teachers that I had throughout my 12 years at Baymonte. I believe the small class sizes foster genuine relationships among students, and with the staff.

A highlight from my time at Baymonte has to be the Mexico (mission) trip. It was so fulfilling to give back to a community less fortunate than my own. I grew tremendously during my trip both spiritually and emotionally. Working hard with my best friends to bring joy and light to other people was such a great opportunity. The trip had such a large impact on my life that I went back with my little brother and his class two years later!

Baymonte prepared me for high school and beyond by implementing good study and organizational habits. All of my teachers really emphasized how to be organized and how to prepare for tests. I still remember studying for the 8th grade constitution test, and realizing that being good in school takes a lot of hard work and effort. I also remember learning Biology and Science in all my classes throughout Baymonte, and being inspired to learn more! Those moments pushed me into the education and career choices I am pursuing today.

The last two action photos of Alyse were taken during her sampling work with researchers. The photo of the group is with the professor and grad student she does physiological barnacle research with. The data from this project is getting published in a scientific journal.

Alyse came to Baymonte and did a shark presentation in her mom, Mrs. Handley’s preschool class. Our preschoolers loved learning about sharks. Thank you Alyse! We are so proud of you!
