My time at Baymonte was an experience that I would not trade for anything in the world. Being a student at Baymonte included supportive teachers, lasting friendships, and the opportunity to grow closer to God. Every teacher at Baymonte wants nothing more than to help students achieve their true potential. Whether it is personally buying donuts to motivate their class or jumping onto a table to create a new enthusiasm for learning, the teachers do whatever it takes to help each individual reach a high standard. Personally, the family-like atmosphere at Baymonte is what I loved and miss the most. It is such a rare experience to know all of ones teachers and classmates on such a personal level. I always felt so comfortable and at home when I was at Baymonte. Because we all loved each other like family, there was never a moment that I did not feel safe to be myself. Whether we were learning math, playing with our classmates, or worshipping God in chapel, during each moment at Baymonte our faith in God grew tremendously to ensure a connection with Him even after we left the campus.
When I look back at my time at Baymonte, I have so many fond memories. I remember hunting the buffalo at our Thanksgiving feast in kindergarten. I remember our fourth grade trip to Rock ’n’ Water where we spent several days sleeping in tents and living in the time of the Gold Rush. In eighth grade, we helped repair hurricane damaged homes in Houston for a week. I will never forget the dinner with the homeowners where they thanked us through tears for the time and effort we gave them. It was a good reminder that people everywhere need help and that if we all pitch in, we can make the world a better place. Without a doubt, though, the highlight of my time at Baymonte was the seventh grade mission trip to Rancho de Sus Ninos in Mexico. We spent a week serving the people in the surrounding neighborhoods and providing needed assistance to the orphanage. This trip really changed the way I look at my life here at home. It opened my eyes to how privileged I am and also how capable I am, no matter my age, of making a difference in somebody’s life just by showing them that they are loved. These experiences are ones I will never forget mostly because I learned how incredible it feels to serve God alongside my brothers and sisters.
I am so thankful for the way that Baymonte has prepared me for my future. I started my freshman year at a college preparatory high school a few months ago, and I did not know what to expect; I didn’t know if my time at Baymonte had prepared me well for this next step in my life. But, in fact, what I have found during these first months of high school, is that I had nothing to be nervous about. The rigorous math program, the many writing assignments, and the hands-on science curriculum Baymonte provides has done more than just prepare me for high school. It has given me the tools to manage my schoolwork and extracurricular activities in such a way that I can enjoy time with friends and still maintain high grades. Beyond preparing me for academics, Baymonte has sent me to high school with a strong relationship with God that I can count on no matter where life takes me. I feel ready to take on this competitive world thanks to the countless ways Baymonte has prepared me.
