This past Thursday the winning spellers from Baymonte took the ACSI Spelling Bee by storm. Representing Baymonte’s 5th-8th grades at Milpitas Christian School in San Jose were Ashlyn McDaniel, Nicolette Negrete, Caden Stark, Luke Finney, Maggie Poston, Matthew Mealing and James Thompson.
By the end of each grade’s bee, five of the original seven remained. These remaining five were invited to the Final Spell Off Round to compete against other schools for one of four seats to represent our district at the state finals. When all was said and done, our very own James Thompson had claimed the fourth chair and a well deserved invitation to state finals in Pasadena, California. Well done to all and a great big thank you goes out to Milpitas Christian School and all the wonderful hosts and hostesses who ran the bee flawlessly under Sandra Cervantez’s stellar supervision.
