Congratulations to Macie Luck, who was recognized at the awards ceremony for the Santa Cruz County Science Fair held Tuesday evening. Macie took second place in the Plant Sciences category and was also presented with a special award from the California Association of Professional Scientists. As one of 15 state finalists, Macie is now eligible to compete for the CAPS Outstanding Young Scientist Award.
Macie studied root allocation in Wisconsin Fast Plants (Brassica rapa), a rapidly-cycling species related to turnips. Be sure to check out her project, on display in the hall outside the library, for the details.
