Tomorrow four Baymonte middle schoolers will be playing in the Central Coast Honor Band at Pacific Grove Middle School. Participating will be Wynona B. (6th grade, flute), Clark J. (6th grade, bass clarinet), Benson E. (6th grade, percussion), and Erik S. (8th grade, trombone).
These students will be making music with a group of over 50 of the most-talented musicians from around the Central Coast this weekend. Elizabeth Barrett, Baymonte music teacher, said, “I am so thankful to see these students developing the talent God has given them, and I am so thrilled that these students get the chance to make music in a huge ensemble like this! They’ll get to meet music lovers from all over the Central Coast and play alongside instruments like the bassoon and the bari sax that they’ve never even seen up close before. There’s nothing like performing in the center of a rich swath of sound and feeling your part meld and swell into something so large and beautiful–so far beyond what you could create on your own or have ever felt before!”
Ms. Barrett is deserving of special recognition for her dedication to mentoring and encouraging all of the students in her classroom. These four students have worked extra hard and we are so proud of them!
