In recognition of her dedication, instructional leadership and hard work at our school over the last twelve years, Baymonte’s school board recently named Rachel Hofmann as Vice Principal and Director of Instruction at Baymonte Christian School.
Rachel attended Baymonte as a student, fifth through eighth grade. She then went on to Monte Vista Christian High School where she was given an award for perseverance as they recognized her difficult journey through four years of treatment for Leukemia. She received a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in chemistry from Pepperdine University and a master’s degree in humanities from St. John’s University. She went on to John Hopkins University where she taught in the Baltimore elementary schools in second grade as well as fourth and fifth grade science classes. She has been teaching in Baymonte’s middle school for eleven years and has taught math, science and language arts. One of her early highlights was working alongside Mrs. Linda Cantrall who was Rachel’s math teacher as a middle schooler.
Last summer, Rachel served at an under-resourced school in Los Angeles where she worked with gifted students.
During the current pandemic crisis, Rachel lead our teachers through training and a quick transition into effective distance learning for all grades. Her leadership and intellect are respected and valued by Baymonte faculty and families. Rachel’s hobbies include sailing and spending time with her niece and nephew. She has a leadership role at the UCSC sailing club and spends as much of her free time on the Monterey Bay. Rachel’s niece, Chloe is starting kindergarten at Baymonte this year.
