Today’s Baymonte Christian School Faculty Highlight is fourth grade teacher Terra Bliss. Terra grew up in Scotts Valley with her parents and four brothers. She attended Cal State Hayward and finished up her schooling and master’s degree at Bethany College where she also played on the school’s softball and soccer teams. She student taught kindergarten at DeLaveaga Elementary and fourth grade at Vine Hill Elementary before finding her way to Baymonte.
Terra’s coworkers have become her life-long friends. She’s bonded with them through the years of working alongside them, doing Bible studies together and sharing vacations and summers together. One of her students summed up Terra’s impact in a card she wrote saying, “Thank you for helping me grow as a person and a student…you brought me closer to God. I started praying more and reading scripture before bed. You are an amazing teacher.”

Terra is in her fourteenth year of teaching at BCS and considers Baymonte her family, her home. She’s held many positions at Baymonte including teaching third grade (two years), teaching fifth grade (eleven years) and is now teaching fourth grade. She’s also coached soccer, softball, ran the school’s summer program for six years, and is currently athletic director. Sports has always been a passion of Terra’s and during her fourteen years teaching and coaching at BCS she has not only taught skills but also instilled the love of sports in her students and players. She also loves to pray with her team or class and guide them with her Christian values. One of her favorite memories is leading a student to the Lord in her class.
