General Room Mom Guidelines

November 16, 2010 by Leslie Rapolla

Classroom Parties

For each party the following will need to be organized:

Treat(s): cupcakes, cookies, brownies, fruit/cheese, etc.

Drinks: juice, water, etc.

Paper goods: plates, napkins, cups, utensils if necessary

Craft: Always check with your teacher prior to party. Sometimes your teacher may have a planned activity or time will not permit.  If a craft is appropriate, always keep them short and simple.

Helpers: Don’t feel like you have to be at every class party and/or activity.  Enlist other parents and give them opportunities to participate.

Hint: An email blast to all parents with items needed for each party is an easy way to get the word out about an upcoming event and to ask for assistance in getting all items covered. Always send a reminder email 2-3 days ahead of your event.

Teacher Appreciation Day

Date to be determined

A special luncheon will be sponsored by PTF for teachers and staff on this day.  Food and parent helpers will be needed.

Please DO NOT collect money for Teacher Appreciation Day from your classroom families.  This is a time for each family to appreciate their teacher and aides as they wish.  Feel free to honor your teacher/aides in some way as a whole class, but eliminate the purchase of expensive gifts in which all the families are asked to contribute.  This is a voluntary school event and no one should feel forced to participate.  This is a great time to email out your teacher’s “A Few of My Favorite Things” sheet to give families an idea of what your teacher’s likes and hobbies are.

Teacher Birthdays

The Baymonte Board gives each teacher a gift certificate of their choice.  Please do not collect money; please do not throw a class party.  A card with every child’s signature is appropriate.  Again, each family is welcome to acknowledge the teacher however they see fit.  Another email blast informing parents of the birthday is appropriate.
