The Baymonte girls’ 2023 soccer season came to an end Tuesday evening in the first round of the playoffs. A back-and-forth game with Tabernacle School (from the North Division) saw the Lady Lions concede the winning goal late in the second half, going out of the tournament with a 3-2 loss.
The Lady Lions had a successful season, finishing the regular season 2nd in the South Division, behind San Jose Christian. Led by a trio of goal scorers (who each averaged at least one goal per game), Baymonte was able to field a balanced team that frustrated opponents. Backstopped by a goalkeeping duo, the young defensive corps did well keeping attackers away from our goal, and would go on the offensive once they took possession of the ball. Our outstanding midfielders were excellent in both slowing down opposing attacks and creating scoring opportunities, feeding the ball to our forwards – notching a team record 47 goals this season!
We are sad to be losing a few key contributors to our success – two are graduating, one is moving away – however, they will be there in spirit in 2024 as the returning Lady Lions look to improve on this season.
