Dear Baymonte Parents,
As we approach our Christmas break, I’m pleased with what we’ve been able to accomplish in this first semester of school. I’m thankful for the precautions that our families have taken to keep our community healthy and safe. I’m grateful for our faculty and staff who have adapted to new constraints, and continue to serve our students with loving dedication.
Santa Cruz County is expected to be placed in the most restrictive level of the governor’s COVID-19 response plan in the next few days. This will curtail many business operations in our county and limit our personal travel. As a reminder, schools that have already opened are specifically exempted from the governor’s order.
Looking forward to the resumption of school in January, I’d like to employ a similar strategy to the one we used following the Thanksgiving break. For those who travel to visit family on Christmas, a quarantine will not be necessary as ten days will have passed before we return to our campus. If you plan an extended trip and return closer to the New Year, I’d like for you to keep your students home the first week in January. Likewise, those meeting with groups outside your immediate family close to the New Year should take the same precautions. Our teachers will coordinate work for those who remain home that week.
As of this writing, we have yet to have a confirmed case of COVID-19 on campus. Thanks for all you’ve done to make that the case. I pray that you and your family have a blessed Christmas, and that you are able to reflect on the miracle of Jesus’ birth that we celebrate this time of year.
In Christ,
Steve Patterson
