Q&A With Second Grade Teacher Miss Wick

February 23, 2011 by Leslie Rapolla

Heather Wick joined the Baymonte staff in 2007 having completed her Liberal Studies teacher preparation and California state credential work at Bethany University.  She also holds a Master’s degree in Teaching from Bethany.  Heather was a long-term kindergarten substitute at Baymonte before she started teaching second grade. She is coaching our Middle School Volleyball team. She answered some questions about the upcoming season.

How long have you been coaching?

This is my third year coaching volleyball here at Baymonte.

What training or accomplishments do you have?

I have been playing beach volleyball for about five years.  I have played in a couple of the “No Attitudes” tournaments at Main Beach in Santa Cruz.  I played soccer and basketball in college and this past September I did an Olympic triathlon in Pacific Grove.

What are your plans for the upcoming season?

I want to focus a little more this year on blocking and hitting.  We have the height for it.  I also want to work on using our three hits.  A lot of times at this level the game can get a little too “ping-pong” with hitting it back and forth.  I want the girls to really work on the bump, set, spike.

What are some other interesting facts?

I met my fiancé playing beach volleyball.
