The Reading Buddy program we recently implemented for our third and eighth grade students has been a hit! Third graders are paired with one or a small group of eighth graders for reading time. The goals of this mentor relationship are for our younger students to have practice reading aloud, receive support and encouragement from an older student, gain reading self-confidence, and encourage a positive role-model relationship.
