As we anticipate the class of 2020 concluding their high school adventure, we would like to celebrate Baymonte alumni and their accomplishments. Join us in prayer as they transition to the next chapter of their lives. Today’s senior spotlight is Nico Smith. Here’s what Nico said about his time at Baymonte:
“During my time at Baymonte, I enjoyed the teachers that I had, especially my first-grade teacher Mrs. Thompson. She helped me learn how to read, write and learn with dyslexia. I also really enjoyed Mr. Olson, Mr. Rozeboom and Mr. Fujishin who taught me different life lessons.
As for a highlight from my time at Baymonte, I know everyone is going to say a trip or a field trip, but I have to say the close relationships between everyone. Looking back, I thought I really didn’t like how everyone knew everything that was going on. Yes, that is probably how typical middle schoolers feel, but I have to say it made me realize a couple of things. First, it made me more patient, which is such an important life skill, it allows for an individual to hear everyone out before making decisions and opinions. This is also a skill which helps when dealing with difficult individuals. Second, I’m an extrovert and really enjoyed being close to everyone. This has been hard in quarantine. I’ve realized that during the last year with my busy schedule of athletics, school, and social life, the importance of family. All of this allowed me to appreciate the relationships that I had made at Baymonte.
I have committed to UC Davis where I was recruited to play on their soccer team and will be studying managerial economics. My dream is to become a professional soccer player or become a very successful businessman in the financial world.”
