“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify God.” – Matthew 5:14a, 16
You probably have seen the “Shine” banners and signs on campus, but do you know what they are about? Simply put, “Shine” is Baymonte’s spiritual theme for this school year. It is our school’s direction, our identity; what we want to be known for…
“Shine” is based on Jesus’ teaching found in Matthew 5:14a,16 – “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify God.” Yes, as a school we want to excel in our academics, our athletics, our arts, etc… but, most importantly, we want to shine spiritually for the Lord. It is our hope and prayer that this year the entire Baymonte community “shines” for Christ in everything that we do!
On Wednesday, September 5th, Mr. Patterson kicked off our school year and theme with a talk in chapel that challenged both students and teachers to consider practical and relevant ways to shine for Jesus. He concluded that the best way for the Baymonte community to shine spiritually was to manifest and support a culture of service at all grade levels. As the school year progresses, we look forward to more chapels, events, classroom activities and outreach projects that will strengthen our commitment to helping others, glorifying God, and letting our light shine!
