Destin Bristol is joining Baymonte Christian School as the new 7th and 8th grade English teacher. She and her family are looking forward to becoming a part of the Baymonte community! Destin and her husband, Jon, recently moved to Santa Cruz from Tampa, Florida, where they lived for the past nine years. The Bristols are excited for a brand new adventure and place to call home for themselves, their one-year-old son, James, and their dog, Billy. Destin loves to travel–one of her favorite trips was a service trip to Vietnam, in which she chaperoned a group of students and helped to build an elementary school playground. She loves exploring God’s great outdoors and is so excited to check out all the beautiful nature that Santa Cruz County has to offer with her family.
Destin grew up primarily in Wisconsin, where her love of teaching began when teaching children’s dance classes throughout high school. She earned her BA degree from Iowa State University and her MS from the University of South Florida. Destin has been teaching English for ten years, and she absolutely loves working with middle school students. She strives to cultivate a love of literature and writing in her students, and she’s passionate about helping her students view literature as a way to better connect with themselves, their peers, and the world around them.
