Lucia Tejada was born and raised in Lima, Peru. She moved to the United States when she was 10 years old. She lived in Georgia and Illinois before moving to Scotts Valley, California. She attended North Park University in Chicago and received an undergraduate degree in biology. Immediately after college, she got a job at Mission Springs where she taught 6th grade science in their outdoor education program for three years. Lucia knew she wanted to become a teacher because of her experience at Mission Springs. She found that it was really special to get to share the knowledge of science and the outdoors with students that had not before had a hands-on experience. Lucia most recently worked at True Roots Nature School where she got to take care of younger children and share the outdoors with them. In her free time, she enjoys going to the gym, hiking, camping, backpacking, solo road trips, going to the beach, reading, watching movies, painting and taking care of her many houseplants. Lucia is very excited to be a part of the Baymonte community and to continue to grow spiritually and as a teacher.
Baymonte feels blessed to have Lucia here as part of our staff teaching seventh and eighth grade science. Let’s give her a big welcome!
