We welcome Mike Neronde to Baymonte this year as a sixth grade math teacher!
Originally from Elk Grove, Mike has been a Santa Cruz resident for the past two decades. He comes to us with 10 years of teaching experience, teaching at the elementary and middle school levels. In addition to classroom experience, he spent two years working with students with special needs at the Bay School in Santa Cruz.
Mike obtained a bachelors degree from Sacramento State in anthropology and a teaching credential from the same school. He loves history and is interested in the old west. Mike is an avid sports fan and can be found shooting hoops with his family at Skypark, or playing men’s league softball in Santa Cruz.
Mike’s relationship with Jesus has been cultivated and renewed through his family’s attendance at Gateway Bible Church and Twin Lakes. His daughter, Sophie (2nd grade), attends Baymonte and he is so excited to finally be teaching at her school.
Mike believes strongly in open communication between families and teachers. The success of a student is made possible by the teamwork of all adults present in that student’s life. Mike’s ultimate goal is to foster collaborative learning where students feel confident in themselves and develop an inquiry approach to mathematics. He hopes to instill values that will guide students on their journey with Christ, as well as help them to become model citizens in society.
